My first role was working with 7.13 on Solaris. I was responsble for day to day maintenance and backups of the financial systems database. I also carried out system admin on the unix box creating users, etc

The finance system was migrated onto 8i on W2K and then of course the backup oand maintenance scripts were converted to MS-DOS. I used Veritas software for systems backup. I re-designed the COTS database to use OFA pronciples to maximise the I/O of the system. Any database needs to have strong foundations if it is to grow vertically.
